BTS vs. Chinese Netizens: What Really Happened On the Bejing Olympic 2022?

It seems like BTS ARMY worldwide is triggered by the recent controversy surrounding BTS member RM and Chinese netizens regarding the Beijing Olympic 2022. But, if you’re confused about what actually happened, then this blog is for you!

BTS ARMY jumps to defend BTS RM after Chinese netizens targeted him for showing support to South Korean speed skater Daeheon Hwang during the Beijing Olympic 2022.

The world's most popular Kpop group, BTS, became embroiled in a social media storm after RM waded into the debate surrounding a South Korean skater. This breaking Kpop news immediately spread through various media outlets and the best Kpop news sites.

BTS member RM posted a clip on his Instagram story taken from the men’s short-track 1000 meters semi-final race, where South Korean speed skater Daeheon Hwang initially took first place.

However, Daeheon Hwang was disqualified after receiving a questionable penalty for making contact with Chinese representative Wenlong Li. So, Hwang failed to advance to the final round.

In the end, Chinese athlete Wenlong Li won the silver medal, and another Chinese athlete Ziwei Ren won the gold medal after another disqualification involving Hungary’s Shaolin Liu.

Along with this, BTS RM uploaded a short clip from the match on his Instagram story. Though RM did not leave any caption on his post, except for a thumbs up and two clapping hands emojis, Chinese netizens believed RM was showing his support to Daeheon Hwang regardless of what happened during the match.

This simple action of RM angered Chinese netizens, believing that he was insulting China. So, the hashtag ‘#BTSinsultingChina’ spread through the Chines social media site Weibo.

From there, Chinese netizens expressed their anger towards BTS member RM, saying that China has won the gold medal fairly. What’s worse is some Chinese netizens left insults or vulgar emojis on RM’s personal Instagram account, saying that BTS should stay away from the Chinese music market!

But, before the band's comments section was disabled, the group's fans, who are referred to as the BTS ARMY, posted positive comments with purple hearts, the symbol of BTS, as a way to defend RM and the group.

This Kpop breaking news involving BTS member RM and Daeheon Hwang’s controversial disqualification has made many headlines and occupied daily kpop news since it surfaced to the public.

In addition, the disqualification of Daeheon Hwang has angered many South Korean fans, believing that the judges of the Beijing Olympic 2022 are biased towards Chinese athletes.

Hopefully, there were no further issues regarding this controversy, and all the parties involved will cool down soon. Also, BTS member RM, who received insults and criticisms from Chinese netizens, will surely overcome this dilemma soon, thanks to the unconditional love and support from ARMY fans all over the world!
